R&S®EMC32 EMC Measurement Software
For use in development, for compliance and batch testing
Flexible...
...in its use
- Certification measurement
- Tests during development
- Compliance testing
- Batch tests
- Calibration
Predefined, fully automated tests and test sequences make it possible to perform and document standardized EMC measurements quickly and easily.
Switchover between manual and automatic measurements at any time.
Standard measurements can be performed with the aid of predefined test routines and an integrated EUT monitoring function (EMS).
The capability to perform graphical batch measurements is ideal for batch testing.
The characteristics of individual system components can be detected by using an optional tracking generator or an external signal generator. In addition, calibration data can be imported as an ASCII file or manually entered.

R&S®EMC32 software offers EMI and EMS measurements for all commercial, automotive and military product groups- Industrial, scientific and medical RF instruments (ISM instruments)
- Broadcast receivers and connected units
- Household appliances and electric tools
- Fluorescent lamps and lighting systems
- Information technology equipment (ITE)
- Mobile user terminals
- Military applications (MIL-STD 461C/D/E)
... in test setups
- Support of a wide selection of measuring instruments and system components (e.g. GTEM, TEM cell)
- Simple replacement of system components
... in test reports
- Integrated report generator with comprehensive capabilities for determining the content as well as the layout of the test report
- Report layouts can be stored as templates
- Test reports can be printed out or saved as a PDF, RTF or HTML file
Efficient ...
... due to a graphical user interface
- Clear layout using self-explanatory icons, menus and entry masks allows intuitive operation
- Operation analogous to that of a single measuring instrument even when a test system with a number of different components is involved (virtual instrument)
- Good overview and clear information due to
- Display of measurement results in the form of traces
- Display of test, calibration setups and instrument settings as block diagrams, pictograms and icons
... through assistance
- Configuration of the test system can be carried out with software assistance guiding you through all necessary steps
- Context-sensitive help functions provide clear information if you have questions or problems
- "Getting Started" description provides a comprehensive overview and a brief introduction to operation
... through a modular calibration concept
- Calibration capabilities for individual components (e.g. cables), the entire test setup (reference calibration) or the test site (field uniformity) allow rapid verification, fast error location and restoration of measurement functions when an instrument or component has been replaced
- External calibration data provided by manufacturers or calibration laboratories can be easily integrated or imported via an editor
... through product-oriented test selection
R&S®EMC32 allows test directories to be stored including- All measurement results
- Associated test templates
- Limit lines used
- Active correction tables (transducers)
- Test report in rtf, pdf and html file format
- Quick and easy preparation of measurements by means of EUT or standard-specific test templates which can be defined by the user
... in file management

- Integrated backup/restore function for
- System folders
- Test folders
- Configuration files
- Standard Windows tools can be used for file management and data backup
- User administration with two user classes (administrator and standard) with individual working environments; file saving structures and profiles for all personal settings
Future-oriented ...
... through modular software structure and option concept
- The basic EMI and EMS software modules can be easily upgraded by means of options to enhance their measurement capabilities and functional range
... in data storage and processing
- All measurement, configuration and report data is stored in standard file formats
- Alphanumeric data (calibration data, measurement results, settings) are stored in text format (UNICODE) for easy transfer to other applications
- Graphs (measured traces) in WMF format
- Test report in rtf, pdf and html file format
... through enhanceability and support
The modular software structure helps to ensure smooth software expansions and modifications as part of Rohde & Schwarz software update service. This also means adaptability to future measurement tasks, amendments to standards and new hardware requirements
The test component explorer (top left) provides an overview of all loaded files of the current measurement. Directly below it are the entry fields for the manual remote control of mast and turntable.
The area in the center provides the graphics for the following:
- The overview measurement (preview) with the results of the individual EMI measurement
- The zoom function which is used to perform a sweep or scan of a user-definable area around the disturbance frequency.
The windows on the right are used for setting the frequency of the test receiver. They also display the current result of the individual EMI measurement numerically and as a bargraph (ClrWrite and MaxHold).
The symbols at the bottom are used to control the test routine (pause, end, start, frequency step, etc.)
EUT-oriented test directory structure in the
A test directory contains all measurement results plus the associated test templates, limit lines and correction tables (transducers), which clearly define how the measurement results were obtained. Thus, users can confidently trace the results and reliably reproduce the measurements (important for accreditation)
